Laverton is one of the suburbs situated in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. This suburb is situated 17 km south-west of the Central Business District in Melbourne, located in the Cities of Hobsons Bay along with Wyndham local-government areas. In a Census conducted in 2016, the recorded population in Laverton was 4,915 people.

Laverton is well-known for experiencing incredibly hot weather during the summer months, with an Altona that typically records temperatures that are actually warmer than this city itself. Laverton is also the home to Melbourne Ballpark, which is the state-baseball stadium that is host to a number of national events throughout the years, which includes the home games for the Melbourne Aces who are competitors in the Australian Baseball League.

Laverton connects to Werribee railway-line at the Laverton Station along with the Aircraft Station. This suburb is serviced from networks of secondary and primary state arterial-roads which include the main arterials like the Princes Freeway, with an entry ramp from Point Cook Road, otherwise known as Aviation Road.

The History Of Laverton, Victoria

The History of Laverton dates back to 1886, when the land sales in this area were promoted by a corporation known as Staples Wise and Company. The very first station that was opened past Newport which travels towards Geelong was the Laverton Station. On the 9 April 1888, the Laverton Post Office opened. Today, the Aircraft Station is close by and named after the Williams RAAF base, which opened in the years 1921, 7 years after the base was first established at Point Cook.

A second primary school was built in the 1950s in Laverton, and by 1966, this school was the home to more that 900 students. In the same years a high school along with another 2 primary schools were built. Laverton’s police station is situated close to the Laverton Railway Station.
