MAP OF LISMORE, NEW SOUTH WALES
The City Of Lismore, New South Wales
Located in northeastern New South Wales is the City of Lismore. It is part of an area known as the Northern Rivers Region. It lies approximately nine meters above sea level at Wilsons River near the upper North Arm of the Richmond River. The city is a commercial center but is also home to many people who subscribe to alternative lifestyles. The population is made up of many creative people.
The Lismore Regional Gallery is one of the many galleries and studios in the city. The area is itself lies within the Bundjalung nation of Aboriginals and it is known for having rich soil that grows quality fruits and vegetables. Coffee, pig farming, beef production, brewing and sawmilling are among the main products and businesses.
There are many designers, painters and woodworking creatives who live here. Both a farmer’s market and many local restaurants are places where the organic food is enjoyed and sold to locals as well as visitors. Although the city does host visitors throughout the year, the city is more a proximate place to stay to see nearby Australian landmarks. However, it does have plenty of studios, theaters, and parks for visitors to enjoy while stopping over.
The main college is Southern Cross University which has both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. Areas of study include law, marine and forest sciences, and Indigenous studies. The university was formed in 1994 but students come to study from all around the world.
The local rugby league is Lismore Marist Brothers Rams. The team competes at the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.
Most residents are of Australian descent, while some are from England and others are Aboriginals. People are either not associated with any religion or, if they are, Catholicism and Anglican are the most common religions in the city.
