About Toowoomba, Queensland

Toowoomba is located within the Darling Downs district of Queensland. Toowoomba is situated about 125 km or 78 miles to the west of Queensland and was given the nickname, The Garden City. In June 2017, its population was estimated to be 135631. Every September of each year, they host a series of championship events for motocross and mountain biking as well as Toowoomba Carnival based on flowers.

Within the city, there are over 150 gardens and public parks. Over time, Toowoomba has also advanced into being the regional centre for government services and businesses alike, and has also been introduced as being Darling Downs’ capital. The Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport was commissioned in Toowoomba and currently facilitates countless flights to the other capital cities located in Australia such as Darwin, Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

Toowoomba has been declared as the 16th largest city located within Australia and is said to be the sixth largest in Queensland. It is also the second most populated city located inland and comes just after Canberra. As Toowoomba’s economy advances, it has become one of the fastest growing towns of the country with and exceptionally low unemployment rate. Due to continued growth, their infrastructure has also significantly increased which leads to a highly employed future generation.

Toowoomba has been filled with a rich history which can be seen in the preservation of its local buildings such as the City Hall of Toowoomba. City Hall is a perfect example of the wealthy beginning that Toowoomba had. There are also several heritage sites located on Russell Street like that of the National Trust Royal Bull’s Head Inn and others.

As we conclude, we can see why Toowoomba was nicknamed as the Garden City. Toowoomba continues to advance in not only education but also in its economic growth. As such, all the generations to come have a bright future to look forward to.
